Create Your Badge It is our mission statement to provide information pertaining to Christian Recovery to addiction and addiction services. We have information, links, music and most of all...encouragement. We have E-Books available which look at Addiction from the spiritual level based on the Judeo-Christian Bible. We are not Evangelical neither are we political. We are concerned that for far too long, there has been this environment of teaching that addiction is forever. Please read through our web site and return from time to time. And remember:Addiction is not forever. Only God is forever! :) :) :) What is very clear is that to be successful in rebuilding your life you must be informed about what you are up against and where you can locate information and support. You are not alone in your struggle and neither are you totally at fault.
Forgive yourself, God forgives you. Remember, "If the dog bites you once shame on him. If the dog bites you twice shame on you", (Anonymous). Although relapse is part of recovery there comes a time when there should be relapse in your life no more and forever. Now is that time for you. Addiction is a mindset and a failure to endeveavor to persevere to victory.

We are endowed by God with 'free will' to make choices. We are not here to critic what people do with their lives or the choices that are made. Those are your choice for your life. without doubt; choices have consequences. Good or bad there are consequences. We are merely pointing out something which should be obvious. Our ungodly choices lead us into dangerous situations and then we call on God to get us through the tough times. Don't you think this is a bit strange? We generally don't want anybody to speak to us about 'RELIGION" but we desire protection from the God that "religion" talks about. So what is the problem? We are convinced that because there has been so much killing and lying in the name of God and religion that so many of our people (from whatever country) are turned off to God. This brings me to the persons who operate this website. We are people who follow God according to the Judeo-Christian Bible. We are not concerned with Denominational issues. We are about the spiritual connection between us as Beings in the Human form and God the Creator of everything - both Spirit realm and the Human realm. While we are convinced that God, Jesus and the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) are alive; we are not diametrically opposed to those of you who follow other chains of thought upon the subject of spirituality. We don't know of your walk and therefore we cannot expound upon it. However, we are quite knowledgeable of the "Walking in the Spirit" as defined and described in the Bible (Romans 8: 1-end and Galations 5:16-end). This should be the goal of any believing Christian. We use this website to provide information and publications to our visitors to increase your understanding of what is really involved with the syndrome we call "addiction'. We desire that you understand that we are encouraging everyone and anyone with addiction issues to seek professional help. There are psychological and medical issues typically involved with the treatment of these conditions. The Rehabilitation Specialists give their advice and treatment based upon studies and experience. Our objective is to show you what is underneath those findings and studies....your attitudes, your mindset and what the Bible describes as "unclean spirits". For the sake of brevity we use the name 'demons' to describe them. These demons are very numerous, very tricky and crafty. The Bible tells us that they often come disguised as "angels of light". This means they operate in your life via your 'freinds', your acquantances, your co-workers, family members, and life situations. Perhaps you think this is 'wacky'? Can we ask you a couple of questions? Do you believe in 'ghosts' or tarot cards or people who speak to the 'dead'? Do you believe in 'horoscopes' or 'fortune tellers'? What about psychics? Do you pray when a loved one is sick or in danger? Do you pray when your favorite basketball team is behind in a game? We all believe in some "higher power". Even the athiest will pray in military combat. Just ask any Combat Veteran. Why should you challenge our findings then...especially when these things are desribed and spoken of in the Bible? Our goal is not to 'convert' you. God Himself is talking to you about that, isn't He?Our goal is to help you battle your way all the way out from this self created dungeon that you have created for yourself. And make no mistake about it...you will have to fight your way out; through tragedy, setbacks, discouragement, and unbelieving family and friends. You are going to face possible unemployment, harrassment, disrespect and more. Please be encouraged because evryone of us here at Team RQP have been exactly where you are now. In one form or another we were beat up by addiction and we were able to make it out. This means you can, too. You will not make it if you do not have two essentail mindsets within you:
1) The mind of a warrior. You will have skirmishes , roadblocks, traps and tricks, lies and much more to endure. Sometimes you will face outright battles. This is where the 'warrior mind' comes into play. Your attitude must be that "no matter who falls down, who turns around, who stops or slows down, who leaves you, who abandons you, no matter what happens...you will make the best use of each and every day". You will focus on victory all the time. The warrior learns everything he can about his condition and situation from every source available. That means you, too, Ladies! We may use the masculine gender in our conversation but we mean everybody; male and female. Let me share this nugget>>>women use their inborn warrior mindset all the time. How do you think women raise good children with no responsable man in their lives or next to no money? They get up everyday and battle for what they seek...day after tired day. They operate with hope that their children will have a better life than they have. This is a pure warrior mindset. Addicts have it. Addicts do whatever is called for to satisfy that habit (demon). BUT! When the time comes for rebuilding our lives somehow the vast majority of people start setting conditions. No rehab, no this no that. But you will destroy a job, family or whatever to be an addict. That is absolutely psychotic, in our humble opinion. We were psychotic, too. But that was then and this is now. Now we have the warrior mindset focused on absolute victory over every situation and circumstance along the road to personal freeedom and financial freedom so that we can be responsible to our family, our country and our God!
2) The Heart of a Gladiator. In the ancient Roman Empire, the Gladiator fought in Arenas and they either had victory and lived or they were defeated and died. The Galadiator heart accepts nothing but victory or dies trying. The Gladiator learns everything about the weapons to be offensive with and how to defend against every enemy, weapon and situation in the Arena. the Gladiator learns how to dance in the storm while everyone else huddles in the shelter waiting for the storm to pass. The Gladiator humbles himself so that he can be taught and can learn. The Gladiator accepts the current situation so that he can learn and be prepared for the upcoming situation. The Gladiator heart understands that it is the responsibility of the addict to battle for himself out to freedom. The rehab Specialist, the Church Minister or Rabbi orother people you meet along your Support network are to carry you along the road. They are to advise yoiu. It is the Gladiator's duty to get up and fight with your spirit and determination to acheive and overcome. It is the Gladiator's responsibilty to get employment to pay for the phone ,save for the apartment or pay rent at the Halfway House. Gladiators take responsiblity for their actions and failures. There are two types of people in the world; those who make excuses and those who make things happen. The Gladiator heart rejects excuses and makes things happen.
Every RQP Team Member has endured addiction and battled all the way out succesfully. We are sharing this information to provide an 'overcoat' of knowledge to assist you along the way. We hope that it will help you avoid challenges and pitfalls that we experienced in our journey to Freedom. We say 'overcoat' because your undergarments and clothing is the information from your Professional Rehabilitaion Counsellors and the other websites we post up at RQP. It is our desire that we assist your efforts at rebuilding your life such that you become the productive citizen you were created to be. Be sure to check out all the links. God Bless you.

Use of Antipsychotics in Children Is Critisized
Published: November 18, 2008
WASHINGTON — Powerful antipsychotic medicines are being used far too cavalierly in children, and federal drug regulators must do more to warn doctors of their substantial risks, a panel of federal drug experts said Tuesday.
More than 389,000 children and teenagers were treated last year with Risperdal, one of five popular medicines known as atypical antipsychotics. Of those patients, 240,000 were 12 or younger, according to data presented to the committee. In many cases, the drug was prescribed to treat attention deficit disorders.
But Risperdal is not approved for attention deficit problems, and its risks — which include substantial weight gain, metabolic disorders and muscular tics that can be permanent — are too profound to justify its use in treating such disorders, panel members said.
“This committee is frustrated,” said Dr. Leon Dure, a pediatric neurologist from the University of Alabama School of Medicine who was on the panel. “And we need to find a way to accommodate this concern of ours.”
The meeting on Tuesday was scheduled to be a routine review of the pediatric safety of Risperdal and Zyprexa, popular antipsychotic medicines made, respectively, by Johnson & Johnson and Eli Lilly & Company. Food and Drug Administration officials proposed that the committee endorse the agency’s routine monitoring of the safety of the medicines in children and support its previous efforts to highlight the drugs’ risks.
But committee members unanimously rejected the agency’s proposals, saying that far more needed to be done to discourage the medicines’ growing use in children, particularly to treat conditions for which the medicines have not been approved.
“The data show there is a substantial amount of prescribing for attention deficit disorder, and I wonder if we have given enough weight to the adverse-event profile of the drug in light of this,” Dr. Daniel Notterman, a senior health policy analyst at Princeton University and a panel member, said when speaking about Risperdal.
Drug agency officials responded that they had already placed strongly worded warnings on the drugs’ labels.
“I’m a little puzzled about the statement that the label is inadequate,” said Dr. Thomas Laughren, director of the agency’s division of psychiatry products. “I’m anxious to hear what more we can do in the labeling.”
Kara Russell, a spokeswoman for Johnson & Johnson, said, “Adverse drug reactions associated with Risperdal use in approved indications are accurately reflected in the label.”
But panelists said the current warnings were not enough.
While panel members spoke at length about Risperdal, they said their concerns applied to the other medicines in its class, including Zyprexa, Seroquel, Abilify and Geodon.
The committee’s concerns are part of a growing chorus of complaints about the increasing use of antipsychotic medicines in children and teenagers. Prescription rates for the drugs have increased more than fivefold for children in the past decade and a half, and doctors now use the drugs to settle outbursts and aggression in children with a wide variety of diagnoses, even though children are especially susceptible to their side effects.
A consortium of state Medicaid directors is evaluating the use of the drugs in children on state Medicaid rolls to ensure that they are being properly prescribed.
The growing use of the medicines has been driven partly by the sudden popularity of the diagnosis of pediatric bipolar disorder.
The leading advocate for the bipolar diagnosis is Dr. Joseph Biederman, a child psychiatrist at Harvard University whose work is under a cloud after a Congressional investigation revealed that he had failed to report to his university at least $1.4 million in outside income from the makers of antipsychotic medicines.
In the past year, Risperdal prescriptions to patients 17 and younger increased 10 percent, while prescriptions among adults declined 5 percent. Most of the pediatric prescriptions were written by psychiatrists.
From 1993 through the first three months of 2008, 1,207 children given Risperdal suffered serious problems, including 31 who died. Among the deaths was a 9-year-old with attention deficit problems who suffered a fatal stroke 12 days after starting therapy with Risperdal.
At least 11 of the deaths were children whose treatment with Risperdal was unapproved by the F.D.A. Once the agency approves a medicine for a particular condition, doctors are free to prescribe it for other problems.
Panel members said they had for years been concerned about the effects of Risperdal and similar medicines, but F.D.A. officials said no studies had been done to test the drugs’ long-term safety.
Dr. Dure said he was concerned that doctors often failed to recognize the movement disorders, including tardive dyskinesia and dystonia, that can result from using these medicines.
“I have a bias that extra-pyramidal side effects are being under-recognized with these agents,” Dr. Dure said.
Dr. Laughren of the F.D.A. said the agency could do little to fix the problem. Instead, he said, medical specialty societies must do a better job educating doctors about the drugs’ side effects.

Virtual Chaos
Dear Dr. Phil,
Thank you for the way you help people through your show. I am especially grateful that you are doing a show about online gaming addictions. I have a 38 yr. old son who has been addicted for over four years now. His life is completely shattered because of his addiction. His marriage of nine years disolved, he hasn't worked for four years, and he has no life behond his computer game, World of Warcraft. He is in complete denial that he has any problems other than depression, which I believe was brought on by his excessive gaming habit. My son has a masters degree and was a successful manager of a huge corporation before he got hooked to online gaming. He is not the person he used to be! I am so grateful for the help, advise and support I have received form the group, Olganon. People, including the medical community, don't understand how destructive this addiction is to the people caught up in it and how it affects their family. I trust your program will give the much needed knowlege and attention about this devastating affliction.
God bless you Dr. Phil!

Quote From: caradia
Just like anything, gaming can be addictive. So can shopping, sex, drugs, alcohol, etc... If a person has an addictive personality, he/she can be addicted to anything. I game between 8-14 hours a day, sometimes less. What I had to learn was balance. Now, when I had nothing in my life it was sleep, wake up, game, go to work, come home, game, sleep, and repeat. I could not imagine losing a job for it; however, I can see where it gets in the way of relationships. What is ironic is that I met my current live-in boyfriend in an online game over a year ago. Now, he is here and has no interest in gaming because he has me (which confuses me), while gaming is still my favorite hobby just like it was when I met him. I guess he had other reasons for gaming. So, I still game. I did have problems spending time with him, but now I make sure that other areas of my life are met before I cross to the void of gaming. Gaming is my way of relieving stress. Work, him, and life in general incur stress. So, you know, you do what you gotta do. I feel some people think it is an addiction if people actually pay to play online and/or spend over an hour a day on the game. Wrong. Just because it is not understood does not make it addiction. Think of it this way, if you watch sitcoms on TV for over an hour, then would you say you are addicted to sitcoms on TV?
Helllooooo..... If you would read the responses to this topic, a big problem with excessive gaming issues, is that people like you dismiss what others are saying that they are experiencing because of excessive gaming. You link excessive gaming up with watching too much TV. What excessive gaming can do to a person and relationships can be far more extensive that what watching too much TV can do to a person. Many real lives and relationships have been totally ruined because of excessive gaming. Some people, like you, can get back on track, and have some "control" over their gaming. That is GREAT. But, not everyone can. As you say, JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED RUIN IN YOUR LIFE BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE GAMING, DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT OTHERS DON'T!! Not all people are like you!
These comments are related to VIDEO GAME ADDICTION. The spiritual process of addiction and breaking the addiction are near identical to those related to chemical addiction. RQP

GamerWidow.com More from Dr. Phil's Messege Board about "Internet Addiction"
Thank you so much for doing this show.
I joined GamerWidow in Nov 2005 after my partner started playing Wow in May 2005. By then it was already too late. He was hooked. He would play about 80 hours a week and had trouble holding down a job. He resorted to stealing money from my credit card ($800Aus) to buy wow gold in a 3 week period. He needed his fix.
In the end he resorted to physical violence to stop me bugging him about the game. If I got hit when I mentioned the time spent on gaming it doesn't take long to figure out not to bug him. But sometimes working 50 hours a week and having 2 kids and doing all the housework got to me and I complained. And I got hurt. This game is addicting. It was designed that way. The small rewards, the time sink, the social content. Be a loser in RL but dominate in Wow.
I am so glad you are doing this show Dr. Phil... I am going to make my son watch it with me.. He is 15yrs old and has been addicted to "runescape" for many yrs.. I thought he would outgrow it,but he hasn't. We have given him chance after chance to have to try to control it himself and he's failed. Talks after talks trying to explain, we are so exhausted. We finally took it away from him and ofcourse he's angry so angry at us, he won't talk, he tries to trade one addiction for another and we stop it also. He just thinks we are terrible parents. He's now only allowed to play on sat. for 3 hrs. Now since he can't play the game he goes on the computer and watches other people play, and he still tries to tell us that he's not addicted, to give him a chance. Please, I will be so anxious to see what advice you can give us on this, and hopefully when my son watches the show he will see what addiction can do. I have an appt with his counselor at school on tues to see if he can help us.. He's depressed.video game addiction? My son is 16 and has Asperger's Syndrome. His obsession is video games. He is an excellent student with mostly A's but spends hours on the computer mostly playing video games. He plays a variety of different games and World of Warcraft is not one of them. It's video games in general. When he is online, he is an equal and no one knows he has Asperger's. He follows all the rules about not telling too much about himself to strangers, etc. He is a junior in high school and wants to go to college to major in video game design and programming. When we lock him out of the computer due to not getting off when we tell him to he has a meltdown and we all suffer. He was really starting to listen to us and try to meet us halfway but since really getting interested in colleges here in Ohio for his major interest, he seems more "addicted" than before. In spite of him being careful we still know he is on there too much. We know turning off the computer is the most obvious solution but we would like to have some other ideas as to how we can solve this problem. I know this sounds pretty pathetic on our part but sometimes we walk a fine line in our household to maintain peace.

"Nothing ever gets done unless it is done by a FANATIC!"
Actor: Martin Sheen
AARP Magazine :July/August 2008
THE TRUTH about addiction is that it is not a disease neither is it some lifelong, everlasting condition from which nobody can return. The facts have been confused - some by intent and others via ignorance for generations now. Addiction has been used as a weapon for economic gain by some Colonial powers for example. OKAY...I can feel some of you boiling under the collar right now. So here is my challenge. Go to Google and look up "The Opium War" between Great Britain and China. It was fought approximately 100 years ago and the purpose was that the Chinese Government of the day OUTLAWED OPIUM SMOKING and the Conservative interests of the British Business and Social Community were making tons of money selling opium from Afganistan and those areas (which were at that time part of the British empire) to the Chinese people. Hence, China was a country crippled by drug addiction. The Chinese Government responded with laws and the British Government of the day responded with warfare. The British won the war and the drug trade continued in China for many subsequant years and the people suffered.
There was a time in America for example when drug use was legal. this is how some of our world famous soda companies got their start. However, the Harrison Act of the early part of the last Century outlawed many drugs and specifically said that drug addiction was not a diseaese so doctors could not prescribe heroin to a heroin addict for example. Reality is that many of the laws against drug use were established for racial reasons against Hispanic Migrant Workers or African Americans. This has been documented by such sources as the American Television Cable Channel called the History Channel...and is broadcast as a matter of historical fact. Regardless of the motivation behind the laws the irresistable truth is that any type of addiction is harmful to the normal function of the body, brain, psyche and social function of an individual.
The fact is that the Word of God has always been consistant in that we are all sinners, we all need the power of God to become who He created us to be. The power of God to change people's lives is overwhelming and fantastic to experience. He does not change over time, politics, nationality, complexion, language or whatever!. God is real, true, consistant and all powerful.

Recovery is this mythical psychological and physical location where One is not an addict but then One is an addict. It is a "simultaneous" condition.
